Vintage vanity

Like i may have mentioned in another post, I have been very busy painting all Spring and Summer.  I have had a lot of custom orders.  I picked up this vanity along the road.  I was out shopping "alone", which is a very rare occasion.  The kids were home with the hubs, and on my way home I spied this vanity along the side of the road.  Luckily it was less than a mile from home, and since I was in the car, I rushed home, grabbed hubby and the truck and went back to pick it up!

One of my followers immediately asked me to hold it for her.  She came over, we talked color and she wanted it to look old.
I got to painting.

Then the sander came out, and my own mix of "dark" wax.
And it was delivered!

Coffee table transformation

I have been busy, VERY busy! My following on facebook has been growing, and painting furniture has kept me busy all Spring and Summer.  I'd say I need a vacation, but I love what I do.  The other weekend I ran out to a yard sale and picked up this haul!  Luckily I had my hubby's truck.

In the middle there is a coffee table.  A few months ago I turned a low sitting coffee table into a padded bench.

SOOOOOO, since I already turned a coffee table into a bench, I needed another challenge. I had some kitchen table legs hidden in my shed...and started the tear apart of the coffee table.

After my black, I thought it still needed something else...a little dry brushing maybe?

Now I have already had offers on this table, but I think I may keep it!

Patriotic stand

The weather was really nice last week.  The kids went to Vacation Bible School for the first time, and they Loved it. I have been slow to get the furniture painted.  The humidity is coming back, and I just don't want to be outside.  Here's a quick little red, white and blue corner stand just in time for Independence Day.
A little spray paint, and a little patience...
Hope everyone has a fun but safe holiday!

Beachy dresser

I have been spending more time painting than blogging.  I'll post a few picks here just so I can link up out there in blogland..I love seeing so many creative people out there. The last time I counted all the blogs I was following, it was well over 250, and I add more each day. So here's what I have been up to...
Another craigslist find!

This sat for a while in the greenhouse, I just couldn't figure out what to do with it..I was scanning my fav blogs and saw a really nice white a gray striped dresser..for the life of me I can't remember who though. But it inspired me..

Ok, I took the plunge and tried milk paint!

So I got a phone call from one of my friends asking if I wanted her old reclining chair.  So I jumped in my husband's truck (first time driving it), and headed over to Leanne's house.  The chair was rough and I think too big of a job for me.  But as we were talking, she did mention that she had a 3 piece bedroom set for sale. Well I jumped on that...
I only have a picture of the one dresser...the other dresser and nightstand are shoved into my daughter's playhouse, and she's NOT happy about it.
I've been thinking about trying another paint company...my husband works at Ace Hardware, so for me, I get a quart of paint for about $5, and then I make my own chalk paint.  But everyone in blogland talks about Annie Sloan and Miss Mustard Seed..I just had to try one!  So I ordered 3 different colors and the furniture wax.
Today finally seemed a little like Spring..so I hauled the dresser outside by myself and started sanding and prepping.

I mixed up some Miss Mustard Seed paint in typewriter...

First coat, it's very runny, I had to move it into the grass, out boardwalk was getting speckled..

Then I mixed up some kitchen scale and did the drawers.  I don't think I mixed it well, the first coat was more blue than the 2nd coat.
Then I had to sand it smooth and add the wax...WOW, it looks amazing.  Not bad for my first time using milk paint.

The wooden chest

I was featured over at Photobucket

Well I had to make a visit to one of my favorite gals..I don't know if she goes to auction or where she gets her items to sell...BUT I love her prices! I picked up this wooden storage chest cheap.

I don't know if you can make it out, but there are little fish and seaweed metal graphics nails all over the top of this thing.  Well the first thing I did was take all the metal off, even the hardware.  Then sanded, and mixed up some custom color paint.  I didn't even have a vision of what I was going to do with this thing.  I had to work quickly because another snowstorm was headed our way.

I found the peacock fabric at another favorite stomping ground called the Economy Store here in my little town. I know, the padding looks a little lumpy..but hey, I have a buyer for it in less than 48 hours after finishing it..so no complaints.
