The wooden chest

I was featured over at 



Well I had to make a visit to one of my favorite gals..I don't know if she goes to auction or where she gets her items to sell...BUT I love her prices! I picked up this wooden storage chest cheap.

I don't know if you can make it out, but there are little fish and seaweed metal graphics nails all over the top of this thing.  Well the first thing I did was take all the metal off, even the hardware.  Then sanded, and mixed up some custom color paint.  I didn't even have a vision of what I was going to do with this thing.  I had to work quickly because another snowstorm was headed our way.

I found the peacock fabric at another favorite stomping ground called the Economy Store here in my little town. I know, the padding looks a little lumpy..but hey, I have a buyer for it in less than 48 hours after finishing it..so no complaints.

Curbside find tv stand

So I cruise craigslist 100 times a day, everyday...well that might be a little excessive but I scan it A LOT! Sent the hubs out one day after work to pick up just the bottom of a tv armoire. I knew that he wouldn't get the whole thing, so I asked for the bottom and the feet..

It's not the prettiest thing, and it was soooooo dirty.  It went on my porch and I walked past it everyday thinking.."What can I do with this?" So one day I got the saw out and cut about 9 inches off the back.  I primed the back half...should it be a shoe storage cabinet?  Should it be a kids kitchen? Should I replace the waterfall dresser I was using as a tv stand...

I've been thinking of cutting the back off this dresser because it stuck out too far from the wall. Still thinking...

Living room!  Well I love my red living room, and it's been red for about 4 years, but I haven't been happy with it. I have an obsession and a confession...I HAVE to rearrange my furniture at least once a month.  And in that process, I have to get new to me pieces of furniture for the new arrangements.

It's been cold, and yucky, so LET'S PAINT!

The dresser that started it all!

About 2 years ago I stopped at a yard sale with the kids in tow.  They hate yard sales.  Every weekend we jump in the mini van and travel around our town looking for good deals.  Well early in the spring, I found this dresser for $20.

I don't know if it was years of polish, wax or what.  But it was dirty.  Even the picture doesn't show how bad this thing looked.  But I picked it up for $15.  Asked my hubby to get me some stripper, and started my very first project!

WOW!

All I did was strip her and add some wipe on poly in satin.  I was pleased.  It was used as a dresser, as an office storage unit, a dvd storage unit, a porch catch all.  For some reason I just couldn't part with it.  Well over the past 2 years I have had so many pieces in and out of this house, I have had comments on this dresser, but still would not sell.  I had to find a place in my home...a permanent place.

So I got out the paint brush, and the saw!  See the only flaw this piece had was after years of use the drawers didn't slide in even.  They went in then fell back. The wood was so worn down...

So now it is nicely displayed in my bathroom as a....

FANCY PANTS HAMPER!
