Patina and rust

So I have been so busy painting and keeping up with my facebook page, I have really let my blog fall to the wayside. But I had to share my newest project. One of my followers didn't want this table anymore, so i bought it for a decent price.

It looks like someone started to strip it and gave up. It sat in my storage for months. I had no idea what I wanted to do. I wanted it to be different! I searched the web for ideas..Still, collecting dust..I had no idea. Finally we had a short warmish spell this week, so i got the black paint out.

Well, black just wasn't good enough for this beauty. It needed something more. So I got out the green and the metallic copper paint, and got to painting the top. AND I LOVE IT!

Liberty

I cruise blog land every night for inspiration. Well I found it over at http://atozcustomcreations.net/ . After perusing her site and falling in love with her Venezuelan dresser, I happened across a beautiful dresser on craigslist. I ran right out and scooped her up.
Her legs are what caught my eye..So I kept her hidden on my porch, I had a few custom orders before I could take her outside and start her make over.
I painted a dark blue-green for the base (I love mixing colors), and I am always asked "What color is that?", I answer Rachel's mix.
I then mixed a lighter color and a little heavier than a dry brush coated her again. Then the Modern Masters paint for highlights...

The trim around the outside of the drawers were a beautiful birdseye maple veneer, and I didn't want to paint over that, so I taped it up.

Then lightly distressed. I did have a mishap with the mirror. It's old and heavy, and when I was taking the backing off, my toe got in the way.
Let's just say, that's pretty compared to what it looked like later that night. (Please excuse the dry skin, I think I need a pampering day...SOON!)

Frenchies

I have been on a French Provincial kick lately. I have picked up several pieces over the past several months. My favorite is the silver credenza I refinished with Modern Master Metallics.
I found this credenza on craigslist and the ad stated "would be great for firewood". I responded quickly, with my phone #, I responded again from another email address...I wanted this piece! I got the call and off I went. This piece I drove across town right after the huge snow storm we got. The roads were narrow with all the snow piles. As I made the turn...UP OVER the snow bank I went!  Shhh, don't tell my hubby.

I wanted to make a statement with her...
I have been trying to use up this gray latex gallon I got, it's the perfect base coat under the silver metallic paint.
